The Hush Foundation in Melbourne, Victoria, known for their efforts in bringing music and arts into hospitals, was recently targeted by scammers posing as a widow. The scammer offered to donate a grand piano to the charity before demanding an upfront $800 “delivery fee”. Despite emails back and forth for months, the scammer’s request for payment exposed the elaborate scheme. The good news is after the scam was exposed, several callers offered to donate their pianos to the charity. The Hush Foundation hopes to have pianos in all hospitals, aged care, and health settings across Australia.
