The widow of slain Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo, Janice Degamo, has opposed allowing Congressman Arnulfo “Arnie” Teves to testify in a Philippine Senate inquiry into her husband’s assassination and other killings in the province. Teves is a fugitive, wanted for the killings of three people in Negros Oriental province in 2019. He was suspended by the House of Representatives for failing to return to the country. Teves, through his lawyer Ferdie Topacio, denies involvement in the March 4 slaying that killed eight other people, and injured 17 more. The inquiry by the Senate’s committee on public order and dangerous drugs is scheduled for Monday, April 17, during the Congress’ recess.
