Widespread Rain and Cyclone Tej Updates in Kerala: Yellow Alert, Landfall Details, and Road Accident

Thiruvananthapuram: Widespread rain is likely in the state. Yellow alert has been declared in eleven districts. Rain warning in districts except Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. Tej has strengthened into a cyclonic storm over central West Arabian Sea and Southwest Arabian Sea.

Cyclone Tej will move north-west and make landfall between Al Gaidak, Yemen and Salalah, Oman by tomorrow morning. According to the Central Meteorological Department, Tej is likely to make landfall at a maximum speed of 150 kmph. There is no restriction on fishing in Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts.

The Meteorological Department has warned that strong winds with a speed of 50 to 60 km per hour and at times up to 70 km per hour are likely in the southwest Arabian Sea. This wind speed will decrease in the evening.

Central West Arabian Sea: Wind speed in Central West Arabian Sea is likely to be 155 to 165 kmph and at few occasions up to 180 kmph and then this evening (October 23) this wind speed is likely to decrease to 135 to 145 kmph and at some occasions up to 160 kmph.
