Widespread drops in Chicago grain prices due to profit-taking

The prices of grains closed lower in the Chicago market, due to a profit taking by investment funds after having traded for a good part of the day with increases.

The January contract for the oilseed fell 0.92% (US $ 4.32) to US $ 464.90 per ton, while the March position fell 0.91% (US $ 4.32) and concluded the day at US $ 469.03 per ton.

The fundamentals for the decline lay in profit-taking by hedge funds.

The setback was also supported by the decision of the United States Environmental Protection Agency to extend the deadlines for oil refineries “to comply with the obligations derived from the biofuel cut mandates of 2020 and 2021, in addition to extending the grace period for defaults in 2019 for smaller refineries, “according to a report by brokerage Granar.

Soy by-products accompanied the decline, with a decline of 1.14% (US $ 4.74) in flour to US $ 408.29 per ton, while oil fell 0.10% (US $ 1, 32) to end the day at US $ 1,304.45 per ton.

For its part, corn fell 0.39% (US $ 0.89) and closed at US $ 225.58 per ton, also within the framework of profit-taking from hedge funds.
