The “Wiadomości” material on TVP entitled “Illegal immigration paralyzes Europe” was shown on Saturday 30 October. The reportage begins with a scene in which in the evening two motorcyclists drive by the laundry and unexpectedly open fire with a machine gun.
– This is a recording from one of the Swedish cities. The attackers ride up on motorcycles and shoot with machine guns. Then they quietly depart. Similar situations in many places all over Europe are almost everyday life – says the lecturer.
Meanwhile, the movie does not represent the actual situation at all. As it turned out, Jakub Krzyżak, the author of the material, used the recording that leaked to the Internet from the set of the popular Swedish series “Snabba cash”, or “Szybka cash”. As the Swedish daily “Expressen” points out, the film was shot last Friday. Since its publication, it has been used many times by right-wing circles.
The Internet was flooded with a wave of comments from outraged Internet users. TVP referred to the situation on Twitter.
“The material about the crime wave in Sweden uses a staged shot. The author of the material did not say that it depicts a real event, but that the situation is similar in many Swedish and European cities and countries. This statement is true” – we read.
Only that the statement posted by TVP also does not contain the whole truth. In the reportage, the voiceover clearly says that “this is a recording from one of the Swedish cities”.
The “News” material has been removed from the site.
TVP mishaps
This is not the first time that the editors of “Wiadomości” use false recordings to illustrate certain situations. Last year there was a high-profile case when one of the materials used a post by a person impersonating Marta Lempart. In August, in the material on World War II, the reader informed viewers that The Third Reich attacked Poland on August 1. In turn, in July in “Panorama” it was stated that it was The sun goes around the Earth.
