JAKARTA – Xiaomi Indonesia made a surprise. Not only did they release the most affordable 5G phone through the Redmi Note 10 5G, but they also launched the RedmiBook 15 laptop product.
Of course Mi Fans are wondering, why did Xiaomi bring its laptop products to Indonesia? Then, can you compete with the existing veteran players who already know the market very well, such as Hewlett Packard (HP), Dell, Lenovo, Asus, to Acer?

Country Director Xiaomi Indonesia Alvin Tse admits that the Xiaomi laptop business is still very new. “We are still learning, because there are many great brands. In addition, laptop users are also very different from smartphone users. Including the supply chain which is also different,” said Alvin.
However, even though it is new, Alvin believes that the Xiaomi laptop business unit has entered a mature phase. “Now we are more ready to release laptops in Indonesia with official guarantees. Next year and the following years, consumers will continue to get Xioami laptops with premium specifications,” he explained.

There are two reasons that make Alvin very confident in bringing the RedmiBook 15 laptop to Indonesia.
First, are the huge Mi Fans or loyalists of Xiaomi. In fact, the third largest in the world after China and India.
These Mi Fans, who are on average still very young, are already familiar with Xiaomi’s products and ecosystem. At first they bought a cell phone. Then, other AIoT equipment such as True Wireless Stereo (TWS), portable speakers, TVs, chargers, and more. There is no reason for them not to buy a RedmiBook 15 laptop to stay in the Xiaomi ecosystem.
The second reason is about after-sales service and offline stores. Currently, Xiaomi has 150 service centers and 300 Mi Shops and Mi Stores. “With this continuously improving infrastructure, we will bring more high-end products in smartphones, as well as AIoT products such as laptops and TVs,” explained Alvin.
Xiaomi provides a warranty period of up to two years for RedmiBook 15 at 40 service center points throughout Indonesia.
RedmiBook 15 is available starting July 27, 2021 at 12.00 WIB online via Mi.com, JD.ID and Mi Store From Home. While the offline store is at the Authorized Mi Store.
The price of the RedmiBook 15 on 27-31 July 2021 is IDR 5,999,000 (256 GB). After that, the normal price is Rp. 6,999,000.
Device Combination for WFH/SFH
The launch of the RedmiBook 15 in Indonesia is the first in the global market. According to Alvin, the combination of RedmiBook 15 and Redmi Note 10 5G is an ideal partner in improving the quality of work or study.
The Redmi Note 10 5G, which is priced from Rp. 2 million, is equipped with dual-SIM 5G and a MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor which has 7 nm manufacturing. While the RedmiBook 15 was released with a 15.6” FHD screen, 10 nm Intel Core Tiger Lake processor, 8GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM, 256GB SATA, and Windows 10 Home.
