King Charles organized a Christmas lunch in Windsor yesterday but Prince William and Kate Middleton did not attend. What is the reason for their absence?
The Royal family English has been under media attention for a few weeks now and the reason is very simple: this will be the first Christmas without Queen Elizabeth II. The tributes to the sovereign were many, first of all the tree decorated in his honorand, as if that weren’t enough, King Charles III has already announced that he will not renounce the family traditions handed down by her, from the banquet at Sandringham on Christmas Eve to the public appearance at mass on 25 December. It is precisely for this reason that an unusual detail immediately made us think of the worst: because the Prince William and Kate Middleton Didn’t they attend the Christmas lunch in Windsor on 21st December?
William and Kate have deserted a family event
It is now known that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have drastically distanced themselves from the Royals to regain their independence and it is not surprising that they have preferred not to return to London even for this Christmas. The thing that few expected is that even William and Kate would have deserted a family tradition. While on the one hand the latter had appeared adorable coordinated with their children at the Christmas concert a few days ago, on the morning of December 21 they did not attend the family lunch at Windsor Castle. Of course, this is not an institutional commitment but it is clear that, being the first in line of succession to the throne, they should have participated out of respect for the king.
The Princes of Wales at the Christmas concert
The Princes of Wales are in Norfolk
While the Prince of Wales’ absence was highly unusual, the tabloids have managed to solve the mystery. William and Kate didn’t want to do the king a disservice, it simply would have been a practical matter for them. For George, Charlotte and Louis the Christmas holidays at school have begun, so their parents have taken the opportunity to move to the country estate in Norfolk. The residence is located in a strategic position near Sandringham, which is where the Windsors will spend the holidays from December 24th onwards. Rather than face fruitless Sandringham-Windsor journeys, the princes decided to wait for relatives at the estate, even if that meant forgoing a Christmas lunch.
