The convoy has been rolling for hours. The Polish border has just been crossed. Genia Lychko, her companion Alexandre Bringia and Gérard Zurita, the pensioner accompanying them, continue their journey towards Ukraine.
Still three hours before arriving in Warsaw. The team decides to stop at a Burger King. “We’re going to eat something hot anyway. Then like that, we will make a point to see they are“, breathes Alexander.
At the table, the faces are marked. The spouses exchange a few gestures of tenderness. But Genia, preoccupied, struggles to reassure herself. She is waiting for news from her father. “He’s going to cross the border at night, he hasn’t arrived yet. He will call in the morning.“The confidence of the beginning of the journey seems a long way off.
The more it progresses, the more other problems arise. To get everyone back, so they don’t get lost… I’m starting to worry a little bit.

And the convoy leaves. In the middle of the night, arrival in Warsaw. Despite the fatigue, the rest will be brief.

Wednesday March 16. 7 am. A capital where the impact of the war in Ukraine can be seen on every street corner. On the sidewalks, lines of refugees desperately waiting for help.
The convoy takes the direction of the station. They leave to find Genia’s mother, her cousin, and her daughter. Finally, the three survivors arrived.
Inside the building, Genia and Alexandre, hand in hand, cut through an ocean of distress. Refugees fleeing the war, with only a few bags, a few belongings.

First of all, there is a reunion with Genia’s cousin and little Nikol, 2 years old, stunned by the wait and the trip. Then, further on, in the crowd, between two rows of seats, there is Lina, Genia’s mother. “Mamouchka“! 3 years since mother and daughter had not seen each other. Hugs, few words. For Alexandre, it is also the first meeting with his mother-in-law.
