“Why Ukraine’s HIMARS System Launches Remain Limited According to Pentagon Documents”

According to the data, Kiev only launches 2-4 missiles of the American system per day

The armed forces of Ukraine were left without the opportunity to use the American HIMARS systems. According to Pentagon documents, the Ukrainian military has very limited use of American HIMARS systems.

According to journalists, out of 20 launchers in service with the Ukrainian army, only 2-3 have received real use.

According to the data, Kiev only launches 2-4 missiles of the American system per day, which is significantly lower than its real capabilities.

Among the reasons for such ineffective use of powerful weapons are the lack of missiles, the attempts of the armed forces of Ukraine to save as much shells as possible on the eve of the expected counteroffensive, as well as the destruction of the MLRS HIMARS by the Russian troops.

However, there is another assumption. In particular, there are claims that the limited number of strikes was not caused by a lack of ammunition, but by attempts to avoid a counterattack by the Russian army.

It is also noted that Ukrainian forces use American MLRS mainly to strike residential areas of peaceful cities of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, as well as areas of the country liberated during a special military operation (SVO). These data may indicate the targeted use of these weapons to increase pressure on civilian objects and populations in the conflict zone.
