why there is no match on Friday but four on Saturday, including Lyon-Lorient

Lovers of Ligue 1, supporter of one or other of the 20 clubs, do not look for the Friday night poster which has traditionally opened every day for several seasons: there is none on Friday September 24 to launch the 8th day. The reason is quite simple: the regulations of the Professional Football League state thata period of three days must be observed between two meetings. However, the 7th day was played in full on Wednesday 22 September.

This 8th episode of the 2020-2021 season is therefore collected over two days, with four matches on Saturday September 25 and the other six the next day. During the first part, Saint-Étienne (19th) opens the ball against Nice (7th) at 5pm with the hope of securing his first victory. At 7 p.m., Strasbourg (9th) receives Lille (14th). Finally, the evening promises to be exciting with two posters at 9 p.m.: the Parisian leader rubs shoulders with Montpellier (10th) and Lyon (6th) welcomes Lorient (5th).

Know that the Strasbourg-Lille match does not telescope with the 10th day of Ligue 2, advanced, to Friday September 24 (9 p.m.); that the PSG match was placed on Saturday and not Sunday because Mauricio Pochettino’s men play Tuesday September 27 in the Champions League, against Manchester City; than the Lyon match was brought forward by one day at the will of the Rhône prefecture. The reason: the fact that the Sirha international food fair was held near Groupama Stadium, with a risk of traffic jams.
