The previous versions of the Xbox and PlayStation (PS) were launched seven years ago, an eternity in technology land. According to Verbruggen this is logical. After all, the producers are happy to launch their new consoles together with exclusive games that they sell separately. Sony is doing that with the PS5 game Spiderman: Miles Morales, and Microsoft would have done that with the Xbox game Halo Infinite. However, the latter game was delayed and did not make it to the release of the new Xbox.
And let the development of those new, exclusive games now take a lot of time. That gives Sony and Microsoft the time to design a solid console with the latest technologies. “The processor and graphics card are seriously improved with every version,” explains Verbruggen.
