The term “PC Master Race” is well known in the gaming community. It refers to the supposed superiority of those gamers who prefer the computer to the expense of game consoles, and is understandably more of a humorous jab than a real caste of gamers.
Compared to console players, the PC elite should enjoy higher hardware performance, which can be upgraded at will without waiting several years for a new generation of gaming equipment. Computer players may also benefit from more precise controls in shooters.
Despite this “technological racism”, the PC does not show any great dominance compared to consoles (or smartphone gaming, which is a specific and limited form of gaming). On the contrary – in European and American statistics, more players report to consoles, Japan is also predominantly console-oriented.
Czech love for PC
Eastern European countries are mainly more computer oriented. The Czech Republic has also historically been a PC stronghold, and the intuitive answer is that it will certainly always be. After all, not even the phrase “computer games” and not giving way to the more inclusive “video games” as we know them in English or French.
Czechs have always played on computers and read about games in “PC Master Race” magazines such as SCORE or Level, while the official PlayStation or Xbox console magazines did not last on the Czech market.
