Why Studying the Human Brain is Essential for Creating a Neuromorphic Supercomputer: Insights from Australian Scientists

Why does a supercomputer need a human brain?

Scientists from Australia shared how studying the human brain helps create a neuromorphic supercomputer, writes RBC.

The superdevice is being developed by DeepSouth. The peculiarity of a neuromorphic machine is that its “brain” will work similarly to a human one. Unlike other gadgets, the new supercomputer will combine power and memory.

This will significantly save device energy. It will be possible to operate smartphones not for a day, but for a week on one battery, the authors of the project are convinced.

In addition, digitizing the human brain may reveal aspects of the development of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, scientists say.

“By reproducing the complex network of brain blocks, scientists will understand the dynamics of the development of certain diseases,” the developers say.

The disease in this case is considered “akin to a computer virus.” And having discovered the cause of the “failure”, it will be possible to understand how to eliminate it.

Previously, we told you that astronomers discovered a planet with an ocean and contrasting temperatures – for whom such living conditions are suitable.
