Belgian singer Stromae has been forced to cancel six dates of his tour for health reasons. After his big comeback in 2022, his fans are now worried about seeing the artist withdraw from the front of the stage.
Will 2023 still be a difficult year for Stromae? After seven years of absence and a triumphant return, the Belgian singer’s team announced that he could not perform three concerts scheduled for March 29 to 31 at the Zenith in Nantes “due to his state of health”. The Brussels artist had already canceled three concerts last week.

“I thought I had gone mad”
The state of health of the artist has reason to worry his fans. Indeed, Stromae, returned to the front of the stage in 2022 with his album “Multitude”, had communicated on his heavy psychological problems.
Indeed, in 2016, the singer had announced his departure from the music world, in particular because of the side effects of Lariam, a treatment taken before going on tour on the African continent. Subsequently, Stromae had to cut short his stay due to heavy side effects.
“I have few regrets in my life, but if I could go back and avoid taking Lariam, I would do it without hesitation,” he told our colleagues from Marianne. “I thought I had gone mad. After 150 dates, I was flat. I couldn’t stand my malaria treatment, it gave me hallucinations. I was diagnosed with psychic decompensation . I could have done something stupid, I was no longer myself“, he explained.
“Hell”
In addition to the serious consequences of Lariam, Stromae had also expressed his burn-out caused by the fatigue of the tours and his almost constant state of anxiety. “Too much energy, fatigue, travel… It’s not just about bragging on stage and enjoying life because everything works out for us. It’s also moments of loneliness in a hotel room” , had confided the singer to Paris Match.
Creating the surprise, Stromae had finally made his big comeback in February 2022 with his album “Multitude”. The artist had signed a smashing happening when in the middle of an interview with the TF1 newscast, he unveiled his single “Hell”, dealing frankly with suicidal thoughts and depression.
