The speeding article has been in the criminal code since 2013. It was introduced because blatant speeding should no longer be considered minor crimes. Nevertheless, speeding offenders often receive a suspended sentence for their first offense – we asked a lawyer about this.

On Thursday, the Zofingen district court had to deal with three speeding cases. Readers were particularly interested in the case of a 19-year-old Swiss woman who only had a learner’s license and had already committed two serious speeding violations: On the same night she was speeding at 117 km/h at a speed limit of 60 km/h, almost half an hour later in the 30 zone at 102 km/h.
