How much sleep

Before drawing conclusions that you sleep too much, it is worth figuring out how many hours spent in a dream are normal. According to international recommendations, an adult needs to sleep from seven to nine hours. Time varies by age. For example, older people need a little less than 6 hours. And adolescents, on the contrary, are better off sleeping longer, as their body undergoes significant changes, and it just needs time to recover.

How long is the whole day?

A dream is considered to be long when it lasts more than ten hours. For the body, it will be a plus only if you are overworked and very tired. And if you prefer to sleep daily, then the general condition may worsen when the regime changes. There is such a scientific term as “long-sleeping people.” This is not a diagnosis, but simply a feature of the body, which is not manifested in everyone. On average, such people sleep for 10-12 hours and do not feel discomfort.

Better take a nap

Scientists at the University of Berlin examined about 80,000 people in order to identify the features of long sleep. German experts have determined that everyone who likes to get enough sleep at the weekend can be susceptible to many diseases, including diabetes and obesity. Statistics show that among “long-term” 2% of women and 5% of men, mortality is much higher. Such data are associated with frequent cardiovascular diseases of sleep lovers. There is an inverse curve for optimal health outcomes depending on the duration of sleep. And, when the duration of sleep deviates from the standard 7-8 hours in the direction of increasing or decreasing, health risks increase. Scientists recommend: if you do not get enough sleep during the week, do not put off a long sleep on weekends, try to lie down for only 20 minutes on weekdays and take a nap. Such a tonic dream will be much more useful than a weekend spent under the covers.

There are situations when a person who is not inclined to a long sleep, at one point, begins to sleep for 11-12 hours. Firstly, this can be directly related to the body’s response to stress.
