A new report ensures that your electricity bill will be much more expensive if you watch Netflix through PS5 or Xbox Series.

Specifically, using Netflix through PS5 “consumes between 10 and 25 times more energy than through Apple TV or Fire TV stick”. While “accessing services like Netflix through PS5 can save you a few seconds, the console will consume between 30 and 70 watts, around between 10 and 25 times more energy than a streaming device like Amazon Fire TV stick to watch the same program”Says the study. “We have repeatedly urged both Sony and Microsoft to include a dedicated low-power chip for video playback on their consoles..
PS5 ranks the worst in this report, given that on average it has been consuming between 68 and 70 watts for shows streamed on both Prime Video and Netflix. Something better in the study has been Xbox Series, but also far above if we compare it with other external devices such as Fire TV stick.
