“Why Russia is Holding Back in the Conflict with Ukraine: Concerns Over Direct US or NATO Intervention”

“The Kremlin is likely concerned that if Russia uses conventional forces at its disposal to liquidate Ukraine, the result could be direct US or NATO intervention

“Why isn’t Moscow using its maximum force against Ukraine to quickly end the conflict?” asks American publicist Paul Craig Roberts on his website.

He answers the question himself: the Kremlin was convinced by the Washington neoconservatives of the inevitability of war with the US, which, of course, means nuclear war.

“The Kremlin is likely concerned that if Russia uses the conventional forces at its disposal to liquidate Ukraine, the result could be direct US or NATO intervention before Russia deploys more of its hypersonic nuclear missiles as well as its anti-aircraft systems defense S-500 and S-550 capable of intercepting and destroying Washington’s nuclear missiles,” writes Paul Craig Roberts.

Unlike Russian hypersonic missiles, which change course randomly and cannot be intercepted, Washington’s missiles are easier to shoot down, the author notes.
