A source exclusively told HollywoodLife that Kate McKinnon will always remain an integral part of “Saturday Night Live” as she films her upcoming “Tiger King” series.
As Kate McKinnon keep filming his next one King tiger series with Peacock, his colleagues from Saturday Night Live had no problem adjusting to her new work schedule. With the creator of SNL Lorne Michaels‘desire to have as many of the remaining cast on current Season 47, a source revealed to HollywoodLa Vie exclusively that Kate, 37, will remain an integral part of the series despite her part-time status.
“SNL which has Kate McKinnon is just a better SNL,” our source said. “Lorne was really interested in bringing her back because she’s such a powerhouse. Right now she is working very hard to bring him King tiger project to broadcast while she plays Carole Baskin and production of the series, so his attention was focused on making it the best it could be. ”
With both projects taking so long for an Emmy winner, there is simply no way for her to appear regularly in NBC’s sketch comedy, which would entail some much-needed trade-offs. “There was an agreement and concessions that when Kate can help with SNL, she will,” the source added. “A part-time Kate is better than no Kate at all. “
The source added that the cast and crew “are as accommodating as they can get to make sure everything goes smoothly” as “everyone loves” Kate. “She deserves to receive this treatment and it works for everyone involved,” the insider said. The part-time arrangement comes after initial speculative reports that the SNL veteran is potentially not coming back at all.
While Kate and other longtime actors including Cecily Strong and Aidy Bryant, the rumor was that he was leaving after the 45th season, it was another favorite of the show, Beck Bennett, to announce his departure. He announced its release on September 27, thanking the series for “8 years of remarkable people and incredible experiences that have completely changed my life.”
Featured actor Lauren Holt also left the series. Meanwhile, the breakout featured players Bowen Yang and Chloé Fineman have been promoted to regular cast members this season. Season 47 also welcomed three new star players, Aristotle Athari, James Austin Johnson, and Sarah Sherman. SNL’s next episode airs on October 9 with the host Kim Kardashian and musical guest Halsey.
