WHAT HAPPENED? A strange story about Benjamin Pavard is making the rounds in Spain. Apparently the central defender’s move from FC Bayern to FC Barcelona failed last winter due to the veto of his French compatriot Ousmane Dembélé.
WHAT WAS SAID? On the podcast “Barca reserved” von Catalonia Radio Spanish journalist Javier Miguel claimed that the Catalans were interested in signing Pavard in the 2023 winter transfer window.
In this context, coach Xavi asked Dembélé for his opinion on Pavard. The former Dortmund player is said to have spoken anything but positive about the 27-year-old, which was one of the reasons for the decision against a Pavard transfer.
