To begin, consider the usual USB version 2.0 and higher. They act as a USB hub. That is, you can use them to connect various peripherals. For example, you can connect a keyboard with a mouse, flash drives and external hard drives, as well as other devices with a USB connection. In addition, these ports can be used to charge gadgets, as well as to power external devices, such as speakers or LED strips.

In addition to standard type A ports (i.e., regular rectangular ports – Note the author), on the monitor, as a rule, there is one type B port. This is the so-called USB upstream connector that connects to the motherboard port or laptop. Accordingly, without it, the remaining ports will not work.

Thus, the USB ports on the monitor work as a USB hub. However, this is true only for USB Type A version 2.0 and higher. As for Type-C, then, as we recall, this is a universal port through which you can transmit not only data, but also video. In other words, Type-C is used along with the rest of the video inputs: HDMI, Display Port or even VGA, naturally, adjusted for operating modes. In particular, this can be useful if you want to connect a MacBook or a Mac desktop computer to the monitor.
