Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Deputy General Chair of the NasDem Party, Ahmad Ali, assessed the presidential candidates Ganjar Pranowo it is inappropriate to talk about the DPR’s right to inquiry to investigate allegations of fraud in the general election (Election) 2024.
Ahmad believes that such ideas should come out before voting day and not come from the losing party.
“In my opinion, Mr. Ganjar is inappropriate to talk about this because he is the one who lost. Why wasn’t this initiative reported at the start? In my opinion, if there is fraud, it is not just now, it happened before the voting,” said Ahmad, Friday (23/2) .
“It’s strange that he’s only talking now, I think it’s strange that we’re only now talking about cheating,” he added.
According to the General Election Commission (KPU) real count, Ganjar and his deputy Mahfud MD were in dead last with 17 percent of the 75 percent of votes cast.
Ahmad also emphasized that the right to inquiry is not the right of presidential candidates but of the DPR. However, the party supporting the presidential candidate can propose the idea to parliament.
“Except for Mr. Muhaimin, who is the party chairman, except for others, he must be a consul with the political party and its sponsors,” he said.
Muhaimin Iskandar is the general chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) and Anies Baswedan’s vice presidential candidate.
PKB, NasDem and PKS are members of the Coalition for Change which is carrying Anies-Imin in this year’s presidential election.
Wait for PDIP’s stance
Regarding the questionnaire, Ahmad said that NasDem had not made any decisions. This party, he continued, wants to hear PDIP’s position first.
“Until today we have not heard PDIP’s position, yesterday the Secretary General of NasDem made his statement, supporting (the questionnaire) but waiting for PDIP,” he said.
Likewise, Nasdem Secretary General Hermawi Taslim also has a similar assessment.
His statement was revealed after meeting PKS Secretary General Aboe Bakar and PKB Secretary General Hasanuddin Wahid held a meeting at the NasDem Tower, Thursday.
.
“As a whole, all three parties will be with PDIP and we are waiting for PDIP’s action as the initiator,” said Hermawi.
However, he admitted that he had not communicated with the Ganjar camp regarding their support. However, the Secretary General emphasized that he was ready to stand behind PDIP in supporting the proposed right of inquiry.
Hermawi also admitted that he had prepared a number of pieces of evidence in the form of documents and witnesses to be brought to the DPR.
Ganjar floated the idea of an inquiry right to investigate allegations of fraud in the election earlier this week.
This step is an effort to hold the KPU and Bawaslu accountable regarding the implementation of the presidential election.
“If the DPR is not ready with the right of inquiry, I encourage the use of the DPR’s right of interpellation to criticize fraud in the 2024 presidential election,” said Ganjar in a written statement earlier this week.
Furthermore, he said allegations of fraud in the 2024 presidential election must be addressed.
Ganjar also revealed that the proposal for inquiry rights in the DPR had been discussed at the National Winning Team (TPN) meeting in mid-February.
