“For my own self-preservation, I have not been on social media for a long time,” said the Duchess of Sussex from her home in Santa Barbara. With the accounts called Sussex Royal, which were closed after the step back into the British royal family, Meghan said she had little to do. “Years ago I had a personal account that I closed and then we had one from the Institute and our UK office that we were not behind – that was a whole team.”

Although the duchess could now tweet herself again and post photos on Instagram, she doesn’t want to. “I made the personal choice not to have an account, so I have no idea what’s going on and that helps me in several ways too.”

Meghan sees many drawbacks to social media. “I am very concerned about the people who are obsessed with it. It’s such a big part of our daily life that it’s like an addiction. There are few other things where you call the person using it a user. ”

Harry was also critical of social media before. For example, last summer the prince wrote an opinion piece in which he called on companies to take a closer look at their use. Harry wrote that he saw a lot of division on the platforms and expressed concerns about fake news.
