Real Madrid legend Marcelo snubbed the opportunity to join his former teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, as the Saudi Pro League club could not have finalized his signing until June.
Another reason why Marcelo failed to join Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia was that Al-Nassr should have gotten rid of a foreign player to welcome the Brazilian left-back into their squad.
Marcelo has already returned to his former club, Fluminense, as a free agent.
His contract with Greek club Olympiakos was recently terminated due to fitness issues.
However, according to CNN Portugal reporter Bruno Andrade, Marcelo decided to move to Fluminense instead as the transfer to the Brazilian club was easier for him.
Andrade tweeted on Friday: “With Cristiano Ronaldo in sight, Marcelo had conversations with Al Nassr, who, however, could only move forward with the signing in June when he was yet to release a foreign position in the team. Fluminense appeared strong in the movement, convinced and was faster.
