Balram vs Taradas is the movie where Mammootty played a double role. In the film Athiratram, the smuggler Taradas and Inspector Balram in Avanazhi and the police officer Balram were simultaneously presented by IV Shashi in the film Balram vs Taradas.

Balram vs Taradas was released on 28 April 2006. The movie was a huge flop at the theaters. Even with Katrina Kaif as Mammootty’s heroine, Balram vs Taradas could not hold up. Balram vs Taradas was directed by IV Shashi. The screenplay of the movie was completed by T. Damodaran and S. N. Swamy.

Years later, IV Sasi said in an interview that the film would have been a superhit if T. Damodaran’s screenplay had been done in the same way. Shashi said that the script that Damodaran Mash had originally brought was so strong that if he had done it, the film would have been a success for sure.

There were reports at the time that Mammootty had made several changes in the script of Damodaran Maash. Sasi indirectly said that this caused the film to fail at the box office. However, IV Shashi said that he does not want to blame Mammootty alone in this regard. Sasi said then that there are some satellites around the stars and they take many decisions by brainwashing them.
