Why Joe Biden has tested positive for Covid again after three days testing negative

The president of the United States, Joe Biden, has returned to test positive for Covid-19 this Saturday after three days giving negative in the tests of antigens that were being performed: “I have no symptoms, but I am going to isolate myself to safeguard the safety of all those around me. I am working and will be back on the road soon”.

The reason why Joe Biden has tested positive again

According to a statement published by the White House that includes the words of the president’s doctor, Kevin O’Connor, Biden has tested positive again due to the effects of the oral antiretroviral drug Paxlovid which he took for five days to help with the symptoms of the disease.

According to the doctor, that anticovid pill can have a “rebound effect” which is the one that Biden, 79, is experiencing, and who received the two doses of the vaccine and two other boosters.

The “rebound” effect can occur 2-8 days after your initial recovery and it manifests itself with the reappearance of symptoms or the positive result of a test, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicate on its website.

Isolated, but without symptoms

After the diagnosis became known, the White House announced the suspension of two trips that the president planned to make in the coming daysone to your residence in Delaware and one to the state of Michigan.

Subsequently, Biden posted a video on Twitter in which he reiterates that he feels good and that he will work from the residence of the White House to remain in isolation, instead of in the Oval Office as usual.

The president appears in the video with his German shepherd, Comandante, and says with a laugh: “Everything is fine, I feel good, but Comandante and I have a little work to do.”

In his note, O’Connor explained that Biden have not experienced a return of symptoms and he continues to feel “pretty good” so no further treatment will be started at this time, although “obviously” medical staff continue to watch his progress closely, he said.
