Jennifer already has plans in 2010 to record a debut album after her education at the Sound academy in Hilversum, but decides to participate in the first season of The voice of Holland, where she ends up under the wing of coaches Nick and Simon. The singer confesses during a conversation in Better Than Ever However, not much is known from that time. She still knows she has learned a lot. “It was a kind out-of-body experience. It was just unbelievable.”

Jennifer eventually drops out just before the grand finale, but the great success does not come – although she does get the chance to tour Japan. And that while her brother is songwriter and music producer John Ewbank, who made songs for Marco Borsato, Armin van Buuren, Trijntje Oosterhuis and the inauguration of King Willem-Alexander (that’s right, the well-known King’s Song). Presenter Martijn Krabbé is therefore curious whether he has ever penned anything for her. “Isn’t it very obvious that he would write a nice song for you?”
“Actually, I don’t have a good answer for it,” she admits honestly. “It is very often asked: why do you never do something together? Or why does he not do anything for you, as if. And then I think: should that be?”
