why JDA Dijon was eliminated in the semi-finals of the Champions League

Dijon basketball players lost to Burgos in the semi-final of the Basketball Champions League (BCL). But there is still hope of winning the bronze medal in the small final which will take place against Zaragoza on Sunday.

The European course of the Burgundian basketball players was stopped by the Spaniards of Burgos on Friday 2 October 2020. The match, which took place in Athens, ended with the result of 81-67.

Lacking rhythm, the JDA missed the start of the match. As in the quarterfinals against the Turks of Ankara (83-82), Dijon struggled to defend against the Spaniards who were very successful in shooting with 9 baskets at 3 points during the first period. Result: the JDA returned to the locker room 13 points behind (43-30).

At the resumption, Laurent Legname’s men woke up a bit to return to 6 points (49-35), but they failed to catch up.

Facing the Dijon leader David Holston, uninspired with only 6 points, Ken Horton (19 pts, 10 rebounds) and Vitor Benite (25 pts) shone and carried Burgos to the final. The Spaniards will face AEK Athens in the final (7 p.m.) on Sunday, victorious over Zaragoza 99-75.

All is not yet lost for Dijon

There remains, in fact, the small final against Zaragoza Sunday October 4 at 4 p.m.

The JDA Dijon players will then return to the French championship, where the club made an excellent start to the season, beating Asvel on the first day (81-74).
