Jan Delay as a designer? The Hamburg musician has now got creative for a good cause and has designed a pair of sneakers that will soon be available for auction in St. Pauli. A total of 60 artists from all over Germany took part in the campaign under Delay’s patronage. The proceeds are to benefit a Hamburg facility for young people.

“Whenever children with fewer opportunities and prospects are helped, I’m there. There is hardly anything more important!”, the “Beginner” frontman commented on the campaign. In the past few weeks, he and 60 other artists from all over Germany have each designed a unique pair of sneakers pro bono. Included are, for example, singer Flo Mega as well as street artists and visual artists such as Elmar Lause, Gita Kurdpoor and Skore79.

The shoes can be admired in the Affenfaust Gallery in St. Pauli from May 5th. Bids for the live auction on May 15 can now be submitted online. The proceeds from the sale will benefit the Esche Jugendkunsthaus in Altona. Some of the approximately 200 young people who visit the facility each week have also designed sneakers for the auction.

Delay’s kind of humor: Adidas shoes with Nike badge

Since 2016, the Esche Jugendkunsthaus has been offering free leisure workshops for young people regardless of their social or cultural background – including graffiti, breakdance, singing and drawing courses. The workshops are financed exclusively by private donations.

Nike meets Adidas: This is what the shoes designed by Jan Delay look like.

Singer Jan Delay didn’t use paint when designing his sneakers and preferred to joke: the white “Adidas” shoes have a large “Nike” logo on them. The starting price is 150 euros. You can already place your maximum bid online for the models of all artists and thus participate in the auction on May 15th. (price)
