Novak Djokovic achieved a few days ago what he had been looking for for so many years: The Serbian won the gold medal in Paris 2024 after defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the Olympic Games.
The Serbian was able to “get revenge” for his defeat against the Spaniard in the Wimbledon 2024 final and won gold in his fifth Olympic event. Novak Djokovic was deeply moved and stressed this achievement as one of the most important of his career.

Although I was registered prior to the tournament, Novak Djokovic decided to withdraw from the Canadian Masters 1000 while he was still competing in the Olympic Games and had not yet won gold.

“Although we are disappointed that Novak will not be able to participate in this year’s tournament, we understand his decision. and we wish him all the best for the Olympic Games and the rest of the season,” said Valérie Tétreault, the tournament director.
After the wear and tear that he knew the competition in Paris 2024 would cause him, the Serbian made the decision not to compete in Montreal. The next tournament will be the Cincinnati Masters 1000a tournament in which Djokovic defends all the points for having been champion in 2023 and it remains to be seen if the Serbian plays it.
