The battle for the Republican nomination began in January with 5 candidates. Now, facing the now clear winner, Donald Trump, there is only one, Nikki Haley – and not very successfully.
So far, Haley has lost every qualifier that has been held. Point of reference of her poor course, the primary of South Carolina, the state from which she comes and in which she was the governor for 6 years. It is characteristic that something like this has happened since 1972.

The reasons that keep Haley in the race for the anointing
The simplest answer is that she doesn’t have to resign, as long as there are sponsors funding her campaign. It is a fact that there are a number of wealthy Republicans who loathe Trump and therefore fund anyone who seems to be able to oppose him: at first that person was Ron DeSandis, but very soon it became Nikki Haley.
But, as the Economist reports, for the candidate to continue in such a demanding process, she apparently aims for more than just spending all her donors’ money.
There are many related scenarios and she herself has not given a clear answer, other than that she “keeps her word” to fight until the end.
The prevailing scenario, however, is that Nikki Haley’s goal is more long-term, with many analysts arguing that she is currently laying the groundwork for a 2028 presidential bid.
The American network CBS notes that there is no doubt that if Trump finally loses to Joe Biden, Haley will be able to claim from a position of strength the leadership of the Republican Party, since she has come to represent the anti-MAGA wing, which hopes that when Trump is gone, he will be able to turn the page on the party.
Nikki Haley, according to her words, is expected to remain in the race at least until Super Tuesday, the primaries of the coming “Super Tuesday” (5/3), where 15 states will vote.
