Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia The issue of leaking batteries has often been complained about by iPhone users. When used for a long time, the battery life on an iPhone decreases relatively more quickly than on an Android cellphone.

Since the release of the iPhone 14 last year, user complaints about leaking batteries have been louder than in previous series.

According to top leakster @RGcloud on X (formerly Twitter), this issue could be because Apple uses cheaper batteries in the latest iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 series.

According to the report, the iPhone 13 series has an average healthy battery life of up to 800 charges. Meanwhile, on the newer iPhone series, battery life drops drastically after 600 charges.

Last August, many iPhone 14 users complained that their battery health had decreased by 88%, even though they had not been using it for less than a year.

However, it should be noted that @RGcloud’s claim about cheap batteries on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 cannot be 100% trusted. It is true that there are complaints about the battery leaking faster on the iPhone 14, but this does not validate @RGcloud’s statement because there is no strong evidence.

In addition, Apple said that the designed battery health can last 80% of its initial capacity after 500 charges. Furthermore, the company also offers free battery replacements for AppleCare+ users if the iPhone battery performance decreases below 80% after one year of use.

According to @RGcloud, Apple chose to use cheaper batteries in the new iPhone series to reduce prices. The reason is, the new iPhone has several ‘expensive’ features, but the price is maintained.

For now, users who experience battery problems on their iPhone and don’t have AppleCare+ can take advantage of features such as ‘Optimized Battery Charging’ which are available.
