A new district is gradually emerging in New York City: Hudson Yards. It is one of the largest projects ever in Manhattan and it should become one of the tourist hotspots for the coming years. One of the most important new attractions opened its doors last weekend: The Vessel.

Anyone visiting New York City in the coming years will hardly be able to ignore Hudson Yards. It is one of the largest projects ever realized in Manhattan and currently covers 1.2 million square meters. The area will have five towers, the highest of which is about 386 meters in size and will have a viewing platform, which will include apartments and offices, but also many shops, restaurants and the museum The Shed, which will open its doors on April 5. All of this comes with a price tag of no less than 22 billion euros.
In any case, it will be a draw for shoppers and foodies. Many big names have already opened new branches in Hudson Yards. The well-known streetwear label Kith houses an ice cream parlor and it also opened the Snark Park arts center. The well-known restaurateur David Chang in turn brings Kawi and Peach Mart there. In addition, every major fashion brand worthy of that name has a shop there. In short, if you want to be part of it as a label or chef, Hudson Yards is the place to be.
Döner kebab
The biggest eye-catcher, however, is The Vessel, a copper tower with a kind of honeycomb structure, but which New Yorkers already scornfully compare to a gigantic doner kebab. In reality, it concerns 154 stairs with a total of 2,500 steps that are interconnected and which will act as a kind of meeting place and viewing platform. Anyone who takes a look inside feels that he has ended up in a drawing by Escher.
Not the end
But the first official opening does not mean the end of the construction works. In a later phase, another 600,000 square meters will be added. Ultimately, the entire project will be demarcated by the High Line, the park that was built on an old railway bed and is already a top tourist attraction. One thing is certain, New York will look different from now on and will be even more interesting to visit.
