Why home office will soon be possible at the train station in Bad Ischl

Anyone who has an important work appointment in Bad Ischl and hasn’t prepared adequately for it can just about scratch the curve from mid-December: The Austrian Federal Railways are creating an Austria-wide pilot location for the “Working at the Station” project on around 170 square meters in the historic station building.

On the first floor of the building, a new shared office with more than 17 workstations is being built in collaboration with the Viennese provider “andys.cc”.

Translated: It is possible to easily rent a workstation or a room for a meeting. From short-term preparation for a business trip to long-term rental of your own office with optimal transport connections, everything is conceivable, according to ÖBB. This means that working from home from the train station is no longer a problem.

“It is an offer that has not yet existed in the center and that creates new possibilities. Everything will be done digitally,” says Ischl city councilor Martin Schott (Greens), who brought the pilot project to Bad Ischl. Access is possible via smartphone, and meeting rooms can also be booked online.

Day pass from 35 euros

A “location manager” makes sure that those who work at the station don’t lack anything: coffee, cookies and fruit are included in the offer. The prices for working at the train station have also already been determined. According to the provider, day passes cost 35 euros (24-hour access), monthly workstations start at 210 euros (printing and scanning included), meeting rooms can be booked from 15 minutes and should cost 35 euros per hour.

“Train stations should be central points of contact for travelers and the local community. This pilot project is a significant step in this direction. It will not only make the station more attractive, but also work opportunities for commuters and business travelers,” says Werner König, regional manager of the ÖBB- Real estate management.
