A good part of Eure-et-Loir, mainly the west and the center of the department, suffered from the smell of smoke this Tuesday July 19 in the afternoon. The emergency services are also faced with many calls on this subject.
These odors and a veil of smoke were first felt in Perche, as far as Brou, then in the center of the department at the end of the afternoon, and in particular in Chartres. On the other hand, we did not feel a priori anything on the side of Dreux, a little in the Dunois.
Big fires in Sarthe and Yvelines
Several factors explain these smells, which are sometimes strong locally.
The firefighters of Eure-et-Loir first explain that they were confronted with a very important activity, this Tuesday, in terms of firefighting in the department: stubble, brush and standing crops.

Another major fire is currently taking place in the Rambouillet forest, near the Chevreuse valley.
Firefighters believe that part of Eure-et-Loir may be affected by the smoke, even if the wind is currently from the west-southwest sector.
For their part, the Loiret firefighters believe that the smells that are currently being felt could also come from fires in Gironde.
