What memories do you have of the Apertura 2016, when you were the top scorer in the tournament with Municipal?

It was kind of nice. It happened almost seven years ago. It continues to be beautiful because it is what one is looking for as a footballer, striker, national, to finish scoring champion and thank God it happened, to my teammates, I received many assists and I work together.

I think the last national goalscorers have been Peteneros: Robin Betancourth, Juan Valenzuela and me. It is very difficult for the Guatemalan player to fight for goalscoring. It is admirable that the fight, because there is no continuity, it is very rare for a Guatemalan striker to play.

Why do you think Guatemalan forwards fail to stand out in the National League?

It is a very complicated topic. Since 2016, there have been many tournaments… In the following years I fought it, it was very complicated, it did not have the same continuity. The Guatemalan player has to work a little harder to have that opportunity.

We need to believe more in ourselves, trust more in national talent. Most of the coaches are foreigners and they always bring in a scorer from abroad. It is very rare for a foreign coach to trust or have full confidence in a national striker and I think that is why it has been difficult for us. And I also think that the main culprit is the player, he has not had the preparation to fight and grit and demonstrate on the pitch.
