Sulphurous, at the heart of certain extra-sporting problems this season in Golden State, Draymond Green is a special case. Despite his perks, his importance in the balance of the Warriors franchise is no longer to be proven, which would push the Californian leaders to extend (at least) the player for one year, according to The Athletic.
Everything very quickly went into a spin in the season of Draymond Green. Starting with his early season punch on teammate Jordan Poole. At that time, we had understood that the good Dédé would pass theyear in “no-limit” mode. This incident obviously tarnished his image as a leader among the leaders in title but the boy in spite of his escapades enjoys an almost irremovable status of taulier on the bay. Draymond kept a low profile after this serious incident, trying somehow to pick up the pieces with his team. In mea-culpa mode, he said at the time:
“I failed as a leader and as a man.”
Ok… “May he who has never sinned throw the first stone at me“. But it must be said that this incident at the start of the season still had repercussions on the floor. We had the feeling (in the regular season) that something had broken on the Warriors side. Evidenced by the abominable record of Dubs outside: 11 wins 30 defeats. Of course, other factors are to be taken into account, but for a champion, it does not. Fortunately in San Francisco, the Warriors were intractable, but… Draymond Green, whether he likes it or not, has to do with this disappointing regular season.
Arrived in the Playoffs, M’sieur Vert goes into total freewheel mode, as evidenced by his freak out in Game 2, when he wiped his feet on Domantas Sabonis, which will earn him an exclusion for a Game 3 where GS was led 2-0. Dray in the text, but the paradox… is that despite all that, he is almost unavoidable in the game of the Warriors. His defensive finish against the Kings in Game 4 was key to Golden State’s success in the game. And owners know it.
This is why an extension for the next financial year is under study. Golden State board pushes for D. Green activates his $27.6 million player option for next season (2 million more than he currently receives). As it stands, that would force the Warriors to pay… $242 million in Luxury Tax! Admittedly, Draymond is unmanageable or even indefensible on some of his actions, but he seems indestructible in the workforce of Steve Kerr and in the head of the management team of the Warriors. Status, status, when you hold us…
Good or bad idea to extend Draymond Green, we let you make your own opinion!
