So, is the condition of ruptured blood vessels in the eye dangerous?

Cardiologist at Siloam Hospital, Vito Damay, said that when someone cries, especially when crying loudly, there will be an increase in pressure on the small blood vessels. These small blood vessels, said Vito, are known as capillaries, which have thin and fragile walls.

“In some circumstances, this pressure can cause these blood vessels to burst,” said Vito when contacted CNNIndonesia.com by phone, Friday (10/8).

Apart from crying, these blood vessels can also burst due to several circumstances. For example, coughing too hard, sneezing, and lifting weights.

When these blood vessels burst, the first things that appear are fine red streaks on the whites of the eyes. This red line is accompanied by a red spot in the same location.

“This condition is known in medical language as skelera and is known as bleeding subconjunctive,” she said.

Furthermore, Vito explained that this condition is actually not dangerous even though it does sound scary. There is not even an indication or pain when subconjunctival bleeding occurs.

According to him, this type of bleeding will also heal by itself within 1-2 weeks. The condition is not much different from a bruise on the skin.

“The color may change over time and then eventually disappear,” he said.

Even so, Vito also reminded us to always be vigilant with broken blood vessels in the eyes. Especially when this is accompanied by decreased vision or recurrent bleeding for no apparent reason.

“Or if the rupture of these blood vessels is accompanied by other symptoms such as pain. If this happens, you should immediately consult a doctor,” he said.

Inge Anugrah, ex-wife of Ari Wibowo, previously admitted that the condition of ruptured blood vessels in the eye had experienced.

On one occasion, Inge admitted that she cried too often and loudly when Ari filed for divorce against her. This condition makes the blood vessels in his eyes burst.
