That doesn’t seem like a complete explanation to me. Many took their laptop home from the office – obligatorily. Then you would think that fewer home PCs were needed, since the work laptop was permanently in the house. So the possible replacement of a private laptop with a new one could be postponed.
However, it’s not clear to me if most of them brought their work laptops home or not. Usually work PCs have a different setup, security, protected networking (VPN), licensed software, etc… You are usually not allowed to do any work on a home laptop because of a different setup.
What could be the case is that fewer company computers were purchased due to the uncertain economic climate during corona.
