In order to meet its customers even more, Fairphone launched the “Fairphone Easy” subscription service in 2022, which made it possible to subscribe to a Fairphone 4 smartphone and receive a five-year warranty for a fixed monthly fee. In addition to this, the company also specially rewarded those who take care of the device. For example, if a user uses a Fairphone 4 for more than 12 months, they received an additional monthly discount of €2 in the first year, €4 in the second year, and so on. However, to receive this discount, the phone must be free of serious damage.

However, it seems that customers were not very active with this program and Fairphone has announced that this the program is paused. The reason is that people still prefer to buy smartphones rather than pay a subscription fee for them for a long time (which at some point exceeds the price of the device).
Buyers cannot be blamed, because within the framework of the program, 930 euros would be paid for the Fairphone 4 over four years, and even then the phone does not belong to the buyer, but the Fairphone must be returned. On the other hand, if you buy it directly, you would pay only 650 euros. The difference is huge and you have to be a big fan of the green stuff to overpay like that.
