Today it has become fashionable to review your favorite Soviet tapes from a different angle. For example, one of the heroines of the comedy “Office Romance” raises many questions from the modern viewer. We are talking about Olya Ryzhova, who did not let her former lover Samokhvalov pass.
Director Eldar Ryazanov made the heroine a victim of the situation. He showed her mental anguish to lyrical poetry and music, and also made Yuri a scoundrel when he gave Ryzhova’s love letters to a local activist. But is the heroine of Svetlana Nemolyaeva so simple and innocent?
Ryzhova, who, as a student, sent off the clumsy young man Samokhvalov, years later was amazed by his metamorphoses. He turned into an imposing handsome man in a chic suit, besides, he also managed to build a career. Olga begins to attack the married Yuri on all fronts: she flirts with him in his own house, writes him love letters, and imposes her communication in every possible way. All these passions occurred when her husband was resting in a sanatorium.
Today, Ryzhova’s behavior can be called harassment. She pursued her “victim”, did not understand the word “no” and lost touch with reality. In addition, how would the heroine live with her husband later if she cheated on him with her ex?
It is for these reasons that Ryzhova is so hated by the audience. If she lived in the USA, she would have been sent to court long ago for molesting the object of love.
