In this regard, Dr. Nahla Abdel-Wahhab, a consultant in bacteria, immunology and clinical nutrition, said that the egg yolk is distinguished by its high nutritional value, as it contains a variety of vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin A, zinc and iron.

Moreover, the “Egg info” website stated that when eating 100 grams of egg yolk, the body gets 347 calories, 31.3 grams of fat, and 16.4 grams of protein.

Nahla added that the egg yolk helps promote cardiovascular health, and the reason is that it contains peptides, which are compounds that help lower high blood pressure.

According to Medical News Today, there are other benefits that egg yolks provide to the body, which are:

1- Egg yolk plays a major role in promoting digestive health, as it contains phosvitin protein, which also contributes to reducing the number of inflammatory compounds.

2- Egg yolk helps to strengthen the immune system, because its membrane contains compounds called sulfide glycopeptides, which stimulate the body to produce macrophages, which are cells that provide the body with protection against infection.

3- Egg yolk reduces the risk of age-related macular degeneration, such as glaucoma and cataracts, because it contains lutein and zeaxanthin, which contribute to improving eye health and preserving vision.

The therapeutic nutrition consultant explained that the egg yolk becomes dangerous to human health, if it is consumed in large quantities, because it contains high levels of cholesterol, which may lead to clogged arteries.
