Sixth: Education is poorly organized. We have thousands of independent schools and the government does not have enough control over whether the funds given to it go to the goals it has set. Almost 200 billion crowns will flow into regional education this year. Can’t you really find something for cooks, cleaners, janitors? First, let the government ensure more efficient spending of funds, and then, if necessary, let’s talk about additions. However, it most likely won’t be needed to avoid wasting money.
When we put it all together, it is clear that pouring more money into the public sector for salaries is not reasonable, fair or in solidarity. The first because we didn’t even try to give space to the market and freedom. The latter because civil servants and unions have already forced better wages in the era than people in the private sector. The third is because the school community has to show belonging internally, they receive enough from the outside to take care of the worst paid.
It is clear to me that I will upset many people with this text. That I will see tables of how it is in the Czech Republic with the percentage of GDP spent on education compared to the OECD or EU average. That I will hear how the principals will hardly come out today. That the government promised to give more. That they would ask me if I could survive on a janitor’s salary.
I say it up front: I don’t care. What I am writing is not intended to prevent anyone from adding, I am appealing to the government not to succumb to the absolutist demand that they MUST add.
