TEL AVIV – The Islamic State (ISIS) is a structured terrorist organization that began to emerge in Iraq around 2004. In January 2016, ISIS proposed to its followers to fight all Shia Muslims in the Middle East.

Since ISIS claims to be Sunni, the movement is very much opposed to Shiites. They often belittle Shiites by calling them infidels.

This group managed to ambush a convoy of Syrian regime forces in February 2021 and claimed the lives of 26 people. The ambush took place early in the morning, when the regime forces were looking for militants involved in several attacks.

In addition to causing casualties as a result of the regime, there are 11 ISIS militants who are said to have also died as a result of this incident.

A year later, ISIS also clashed with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

As many as 25 people were declared dead in the horrific clashes that began with the ISIS attacks on the prisons that housed its members.
