/ world today news/ “The BSP leadership set a task – preparation for the next local elections. This means that the possibility of early parliamentary elections is excluded for at least two years. As soon as you are preparing only for the locals, it comes to show that you are somehow ruling out early parliamentary elections. Otherwise, the topic of developing a policy that would lead to public trust and, accordingly, early elections, should be raised,” said Mikhail Mikov in an interview for the Horizon program.
According to him, the big question is about the alternative policy.
“Here is the issue with taxes – the gross domestic product is growing, there is an increase in revenues in the budget. At the same time, the unfairness of taxes remains the same, no one raises the question. Here is an initiative that was recently undertaken by Solidarna Bulgaria, Podkrepa, and others non-governmental organizations, from intellectuals and I think that this is an essential issue that must now be discussed, during the discussion of the state budget and tax laws. We are somehow afraid of this topic, although the BSP voters, the left-leaning people in Bulgaria, are vitally interested in this issue. No matter how much the economy grows, if the taxation system is not revised, the gap between the poor and the rich will increasingly open, and hence access to education, access to health care…”
Another big question – are we an alternative in defense policy, arms spending. It does not suit a left-wing party to have the same militaristic attitudes as the right-wing in Europe and the world. These are issues identifying the alternative, which must be very clearly put on the table, and not with such shallow accusations regarding suspended politicians, of a coalition with GERB, to obscure these big issues that interest the public. This was the concern of those who spoke to the National Assembly and these are far too serious concerns to be brushed aside.
According to the Constitution, the budget is a function of the government and only this law can be introduced by the government. You can make alternatives by proposing solutions in the laws regulating health care, or by proposing such changes in the legislation on education, which will eliminate the vicious liberal principle that the money follows the student and one school after another closes. I.e. you have to do the alternative every day according to the individual laws, including submitting them, because the budget submitted once by the government – the opposition and all other people’s representatives can make proposals for a second reading. Usually the majority consolidates with banal arguments, the big question is that these policies, which are provided financially through the budget, must become desired by the majority of Bulgarian citizens, then the support for BSP will be much more serious.”
