Genes, food and soap determine sweat odor
Our sweat doesn’t smell the same, and researchers are pretty sure the smell is partly genetic.
If you have washed around your apocrine glands with an antibacterial soap, it will take several hours and often as much as half a day for people around you to notice the smell of the bacteria.
A range of foods promotes sweat smell, including onions, garlic, cabbage, broccoli, red meat and highly spicy foods.
Others to research show that almost all fruits, many vegetables, some fats and eggs actually make sweat smell better.
If your sweat suddenly starts to smell stronger or different than before, it could be a sign of stress or illness.
