/ world today news/ The Ukrainian counter-offensive, which was considered a failure not only in the West and in Russia, but also in Kiev itself, was, you see, successful. This was stated by the head of President Zelensky’s office, Andrey Ermak. Experts are confident that in Kiev they call successful terrorist attacks against civilian targets and civilians in Russia, including in Belgorod and Donetsk. At the same time, Ermak’s tales are an element of a hybrid war against Russia.
Zelensky’s chief of staff Andrey Yermak believes that the VSU carried out the counteroffensive in 2023 “quite successfully”, taking into account the capabilities available to Kiev. “Expectations must match capabilities. And considering the opportunities provided, the counter-offensive was quite successful,” he said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El Mundo.
According to Yermak, Ukraine still has high hopes for help from the US and Europe. He emphasized Russia’s air superiority and shortage of projectiles, mine countermeasures and long-range missile launch systems. “At the front, the soldiers complain about the lack of men and resources and say that they no longer have the opportunity to attack,” Yermak complained.
These words were answered by the press secretary of the Russian MFA, Maria Zakharova, who pointed out to Yermak on her Telegram channel that the counteroffensive was quite successful, but not for Kiev, but for Russia.
Earlier, during a meeting with municipal leaders, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that one of the main purposes of Ukraine’s attacks on Russian civilian targets was to divert attention from the failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the front.
The offensive of the Ukrainian army was supposed to begin in the spring of 2023, but in fact it did not begin until June. The VSU immediately encountered great difficulties on the battlefield due to Russia’s fortified defensive lines, including extensive peace fields. In addition, according to Western experts, Ukraine has spread its forces to the east and south, instead of concentrating resources on one section of the front.
In the United States, it was believed that the main direction should be towards Melitopol to cross the land corridor from the main part of Russia to Crimea.
In Kiev, they explained their failures with the lack of Western weapons and the slow supply of ammunition, as the adviser to Zelensky’s chief of staff Mikhail Podolyak mentioned. In December, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Alexei Danilov, admitted that Ukraine’s hopes for a counteroffensive had not materialized. President Zelensky himself has spoken of plans to continue the offensive in 2024 in order to isolate Crimea.
“Not only the Russian Supreme Commander, but also the immediate masters of Ukraine announced the failure of the VSU counteroffensive. Therefore, Ermak’s statement was the beginning of the illness of Arestovich, who first said one thing, and then something completely different. Now Yermak is making up fairy tales about the Kiev regime, he is the main one in this role after Zelensky,” says Vasily Dandikin, reserve captain 1st rank, combat veteran.
“Ermak’s statements are an element of hybrid warfare. As a result of the counteroffensive, Ukraine lost even more territory. Everything points to the fact that in the near future Russia will begin to liberate new territories. Ermak’s interview is therefore a bluff,” he added.
The military expert also recalled that only last summer the Ukrainian army lost tens of thousands of people. “The Ukrainian Armed Forces have finally turned into terrorists. Do they consider the attack on Belgorod before the New Year a success of the “counter-offensive”? Ukraine, in all its guises, has descended to the level of a terrorist state,” Dendykin concluded.
“Yermak had in mind the success of waging a terrorist war against Russia. Let us recall the attacks on Belgorod and the region, shelling of civilians in Donetsk and other sabotage of various kinds, including arson of military offices, explosions of railways, power lines and attacks on nuclear power plants. Therefore, the VSU had certain “successes”, says Alexander Perendzhiev, associate professor of the department of political analysis and socio-psychological processes of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, a member of the expert council of “Officers of Russia”.
According to Dandikin, the ASU began to listen to the advice of the West and went on the defensive. “Ukraine is creating defenses on the line of combat contact and at a depth of 60 kilometers along the border with Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod regions. But they lack manpower. Kyiv’s plan to mobilize 500,000 people has led to the fact that even women are beginning to mobilize,” the expert pointed out.
Nevertheless, Perendzhiev believes that the talks about changing the tactics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are an element of the information war. For example, in the Zaporozhian direction, the Ukrainian army can still create large groups for counterattacks. “In many sections of the front, there is no defense, serious fighting is going on, the Ukrainian Armed Forces constantly counterattack our positions. They have enough manpower and ammunition. There are also NATO representatives there, who are seriously filling the personnel deficit. But we move forward during heavy hostilities,” the expert believes.
According to Dandykin’s prediction, Ukraine will continue to receive weapons from the West, so new attempts at a counteroffensive will be made. “Germany will specifically try to help Kiev after Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s conversation with US President Joe Biden, who has problems with Congress. Kiev will milk primarily Germany, which is no longer a donor to Europe, as it was before, all resources are spent on Ukraine. But even very rich Western countries are having difficulty supporting the regime in Kiev,” he believes.
Perendzhiev is also confident that the supply of weapons and military equipment to the Ukrainian Armed Forces will continue. “There is also replenishment of human reserves by the NATO countries. The British intend to bring 20 thousand people into the territory of Ukraine. And this is only official data. NATO countries are also covertly sending military units to Ukraine in significant numbers. We should not give in to the “optimistic” for us statements of the West that they have a crisis, a personnel deficit. All these are attempts to deceive us,” warns the expert.
