A well-known phenomenon is that it starts to itch as soon as lice are mentioned. Or some of those little bastards, like scabies mites, that get under your skin.
Even animals suffer from it, and spontaneously start scratching when they see it happening to their own kind. There are still many questions about why we do this. Andrew Eversprofessor of health psychology at Leiden University, is studying the psychological aspects of itching and trying to answer some of these questions.
