This is the sad reason why Maggie and Negan are leaving together in the upcoming series The Walking Dead: Dead City
The Walking Dead is one of the best known series of all time. If you’re a fan of zombies (the walkers in this series), you’ve seen some of The Walking Dead. Two of the main protagonists of this story are Maggie and Negan. Both are united by a terrible event, Negan murdered Maggie’s husband, Glenn, at the beginning of season seven.. In the upcoming spin-off series, The Walking Dead: Dead City, both characters will head off to New York. Why would they do that?
This union of characters is due to a problem that Maggie has. Your son Hershel has been kidnapped for some new villains. This new mission ends up transferring them to Manhattan, where they will join forces to find Hershel and rescue him.
Why ask Negan for help and not someone else?
While it may seem illogical for Maggie to turn to Negan, since he was the one who made Hershel lose his father, there is a logical explanation behind all of this. At the argumentative level, Negan has shown a passion for children throughout the last few seasons. Moving away from the sadistic side of the character we met in season seven, we see a more paternalistic side with the kids, so he could help Maggie get Hershel back.
Also, we must not forget the sadistic side of our character. Who wouldn’t want Negan on their side in a fight against the walkers? In battle, it can be a great ally to defeat zombies.
However, the clearest explanation lies precisely in the tension between these two characters. Because of everything that happened on The Walking Dead, our two protagonists have a certain tension between them, which could be further explored in this new series. Also. they could study topics like forgiveness or redemption. In this way, it would explain that Negan helps Maggie, perhaps it is his way of redeeming himself for the damage he has already caused to those closest to Maggie.
