WHY DIDN’T THE SIRENS SOUND?
AFP collected several reactions from Muscovites after the drone attack that targeted the Russian capital.
Thus Maxime, 40, who lives near an imposing residential building in the south-west of Moscow, one of whose drones struck the top floor, leaving a large black mark and breaking several windows. “We were all asleep,” he testifies, “it was 4 a.m. Then there were two explosions and all the car alarms went off.” “Why didn’t the air defense work? Why didn’t the warning sirens sound?”, wondered this resident of Atlassova Street.
Anna, 30, also lives next to the affected building. She believes that “the news is of course not reassuring”, but that “the main thing is that there are no serious victims”. “I hope there won’t be any panic, we don’t want that, we’ll see what happens,” adds the young woman.
At 98 Profsoyuznaya Street, residents were also surprised by the impacts. “We suddenly opened our eyes”, says Ekaterina Kloïane, a 19-year-old hairdresser, “we thought it was a car accident. But no, it was a drone that had hit our house”.
